The Triple B Ranch is located in Elk County. This is a privately owned ranch which we were invited to ride March 2003
by the ranch manager. This was our first visit to the Triple B and we plan to return in the fall, the Oak trees will add
so much to this already beautiful property. We were led around the property by the folks at the ranch, what a great bunch. We were treated to some historic sites, one homestead and a rock foundation that spooked my horse something fierce. We worked on that for just a few minutes and he was walking all around and over it in no time. There are not really defined trails so we were blazing them as we went, we rode over a few pond dams and through several openings in fences. Where there were gates one of the guys from the ranch was always off his horse and waiting for us all to pass to close it behind us. Keeping something in or out, not sure which. We were able to bring our dogs along which as I have said before is a treat. Check back soon for the pictures.
Opinion:
The terrian is medium with some creek crossings and lots of rolling hills and valleys to maneuver. Horse shoes are
recommended unless your horses are used to being barefoot, we have both. This is a wonderful place to ride and is
a good place for conditioning the horses in the early part of the year.
Directions:
From Kansas City we took I-35 south to 75 south. Follow 75 to Buffalo, approx. 52 miles, just south of Buffalo turn
right onto 39 highway. Follow 39 highway to the intersection with 400 highway, take a right onto 400 towards Wichita.
Turn left at the Fall River sign, about 10 miles from 39/400 intersection. Go through town and follow the signs for
Flint Oak, the road has many turns but we made it with our big rig without any trouble. Pass Flint Oak and the road
turns from paved to gravel, continue on this road to the entrance to Triple B on the left, look for the mail box about
1.5 miles past the log home. Follow the road in to the ranch, over the first cattle guard to the log cabin and red barn,
again we made it through with our rig, it only looks tight. We camped on the left side of the road up by the fence
around the cabin, nice and level with room to set up our electric corral or put up a picket line between the trailer
and the trees on the other side of the fence.
